Immediately before the lock down restrictions came into force The Medea Projectwere due to begin a UK tour in support of their debut album, Sisyphus. They managed to play just one show, a hometown album launch gig in Nottingham, before the live music scene came to a juddering halt. Luckily Rassoodocks Media were on hand to film the event and footage from the show has been artfully assembled to create a new video for the crushing album track, ‘Reaver‘.
Rock ‘n’ Load are hosting an exclusive premiere for ‘Reaver’ today and you can watch this powerful video, a glimpse of the live scene we are all missing so much at the moment, right here:
Brett and Pauline from The Medea Project spoke to Rock ‘n’ Load about the song ‘Reaver’ and that last gig which now seems so long ago…
“Reaver is an unapologetic, no holds barred, blackened/death song that draws in our more extreme elements. It originally started as a much slower track with the introductory riff, but we were never happy with the direction it was going in, so one day we sped it up and the rest just fell into place. Sometimes we find, you have to step back from a thing to see where it is supposed to go instead of forcing it in a direction.
The video was shot at what feels like the last gig ever, and was quite possibly one of the last shows to happen in Nottingham before the UK went into lockdown. It was March the 19th and we were supposed to embark on an Midlands tour, however the tour was cancelled the weekend before due to all the uncertainty with the current situation, but we felt that we owed it to our fans to play our launch show in our adopted town. It was a very surreal experience, as some people were defiant, and others uncertain of the situation, but we soldiered on. The very next night the UK was put into lockdown and we’ve been unable to tour the album since this show. It’s great that we have managed to put this video together so that our launch can be shared with people around the world.”
So head to Rock ‘n’ Load now to see the video, filmed at the last gig before the world changed forever…
