NATURAL BORN SINNERS is the third full length from the Italian heavy metal doom band Circle of Witches published in May 2019 on SLIPTRICK RECORDS. The album was recorded during January 2016 and mixed in the later 2017 at ALPHA OMEGA STUDIOS on the banks of Como Lake by Alex Azzali, producer together with Nicholas Barker.
The eleven tracks on the album follow the path of heavy metal and doom with influences of Judas Priest, Grand Magus and Candlemass. All lyrics were inspired by the theme of riot and some characters like Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan, Lucifer, the fallen angel, the witches, warders of ancient wisdom, Giordano Bruno, Italian XVI century philosopher and mage burnt alive by Roman Church, Spartacus, the slave who rebelled against Rome.
The album was written in a couple of months during the 2015 cold winter and was already played during a pre-release European Tour during the 2018 in Austria, Hungary, Germany, Malta, Italy.
CIRCLE OF WITCHES is a heavy metal band with doom influences born in Italy in 2004 by the will of Mario Bove (lead voice and guitar). Through the years they collected hundreds of live shows and festivals, a bunch of demos, two Eps and three full-length, the last one entitled NATURAL BORN SINNERS, scheduled for May 2019 on Sliptrick Records.
The band was honored to share the stage with famous artists like CANDLEMASS, RUSSELL ALLEN (SYMPHONY X), DARK TRANQUILLITY, DECAPITATED, MELECHESH, PESTILENCE, THE SKULL, DEMON, ANCIENT RITES, FORSAKEN, ROBERTO TIRANTI (LABYRINTH), STRANA OFFICINA, DOOMRAISER, EPITAPH, DEATH SS.
In the early days, the band played a raw stoner metal, with a strong root belonging to ‘70s hard and heavy. They had gigs in small clubs and parties, keeping their activity strictly in Italy, always searching for a new stage to hit and not a deal with labels. In 2012 they came to a turning point by having their very first European tour with several dates in Austria, Spain, Uk, and producing “Casa Lavica Sessions”, a video live in studio.
In 2013 they joined forces with Polish producer Bart Gabriel (SACRED STEEL, CRYSTAL VIPER, BURNING STARR) and sound engineer Mariusz Pietka(LONEWOLF, SABATON, MORTICIAN). They recorded “ROCK THE EVIL”, a ten tracks album blending heavy metal and stoner, leading C.o.W. next to Motorhead’s granitic sound united with the dark riffing of Black Sabbath and the harsh impact of the NWOBHM.
A few months Circle of Witches inked a deal with METAL TANK RECORDS which published RtE in February 2014. In the same year, the band played again around Europe and headlined the Rise of the Spacelord Festival in Wien which was a sold out. They also started collaborations with some international agencies for booking and management.
2015 saw Circle of Witches twice in Russia sharing the stage with DORO and then with U.D.O. in their respective tours, playing in front of more than 7.000 people. Later on, the band took part to some important festival like the German Metal Frenzy 2016.
In January 2017 the band closed down in ALPHA OMEGA STUDIOS on the Como Lake, to record the brand new full-length album “NATURAL BORN SINNERS” produced by Alex Azzali and Nicholas Barker (CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR, TESTAMENT). This new chapter is focused upon the concept of riot and some rebels from the past like Lucifer, Spartacus, Anton Lavey, Giordano Bruno. This eleven track marked the path of heavy metal and doom influences, with a sound between Judas Priest, Grand Magus, and Candlemass.
During the mixing, the old “Rock the Evil” song was enlisted in the “Down in Time” original sound track, an American action motion picture featuring MICHAEL MADSEN and the wrestler COLT KABANA.
Waiting for the new album to come, Circle of Witches had a new European Tour playing a dozen of gigs on the way of Hungary, Austria, Malta, Germany, and Italy, joining some important festival like Agglutination Metal Festival and Malta Doom Metal Fest between August and November 2018.
